Nursery- Transport and Journeys

This half term, our theme has been transport and journeys, and the children have had a fantastic time exploring various aspects of travel. We’ve read stories like Naughty Bus and Little Boat, which have sparked lots of imaginative thinking and discussions. The children have enjoyed role-playing trips on buses, learning about the different forms of transport, and even practicing their skills with remote control cars. They’ve created beautiful boat pictures using watercolours and sorted various modes of transport into land, air, and water categories. Our exploration of magnets allowed us to sail boats across an imaginary ocean, while our focus on emergency vehicles saw the children embark on rescue missions, such as using a fire truck to help put out a fire. It’s been a fun and educational half-term filled with creativity and learning!

What the Teacher says

The children have shown wonderful engagement and enthusiasm throughout this half term’s theme of transport and journeys. They have demonstrated great creativity in their artwork, particularly in their boat pictures using watercolours, and have grasped the concepts of sorting transport into land, air, and water with ease. We have been delighted to also welcome new children into our class. They have settled in wonderfully and have quickly become a part of our classroom community. The children have shown great enthusiasm and curiosity, joining in with activities, making new friends, and adapting to our routines. It's been lovely to see their confidence grow each day as they engage in group activities and independently explore new learning experiences. Our current children have also been very supportive and kind, helping the new children feel welcome and included.
