Henri Matisse
This half term we have been learning about the French artist Henri Matisse. We looked at some of his art work and learnt that he used paper cut outs to create some of his later work. We used the same technique to create our own minibeasts.
The children learnt about collage. They developed their skills in using colours and patterns to create their own minibeast collage. They used scissors to cut out different shapes from coloured paper and they carefully placed these shapes onto a surface to show an idea.
The children enjoyed learning about Henri Matisse. They looked carefully at samples of his work and discussed their similarities and differences. The children thought about which minibeast they wanted to create and selected the colours and shapes they wanted to create their idea. I was very impressed with the work the children produced!
